Scope
Sharelf is published by Xingji Wang, operating as Whatsin Lab (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains how Sharelf handles information when you save, organize, preview, summarize, and share links through the app and its share extension. It also covers information you send us when requesting support.
Sharelf does not require a separate Sharelf account. Your collection is stored on your device and can sync through Apple’s iCloud services, depending on your Apple Account and device settings. The current app does not send your collection to a server operated by us.
Information the app handles
- Saved content: Links you submit, notes you add, sharing dates, and related records. A URL may itself contain personal information, access tokens, or other sensitive details.
- Content metadata: Titles, authors or artists, categories, descriptions, artwork addresses, and other details retrieved to identify and display saved content.
- Preferences and temporary files: Appearance preferences, app settings, and cached previews or artwork stored on your device.
- Summaries: Information from saved items, including titles, categories, authors, website names, and notes, processed to create a digest.
- Support information: Your email address, message, and any attachments or diagnostic information you choose to send us.
Sharelf uses this information to provide its saving, search, organization, display, synchronization, sharing, and summary features, and to respond to support requests.
Device storage and iCloud
The app and its share extension access a shared local data store so content saved through the extension appears in your collection. Saved records and metadata can sync through iCloud to your devices. Artwork files are cached separately on each device; artwork addresses may be included in synced metadata.
Apple operates iCloud under its own terms and privacy policy. iCloud availability, storage limits, backups, and synchronization depend on Apple and your settings. We do not receive your Apple Account password. See Apple’s Privacy Policy and iCloud Terms.
Link previews and third-party requests
Saving or displaying a link may automatically cause Sharelf to contact the linked website, follow redirects, and download metadata or images. Music and other previews may also contact content providers, such as Apple, music streaming services, and image hosting services. These requests can occur without you opening the website in a browser.
The receiving service can receive your IP address, the requested URL or content identifier, and ordinary network request information. URLs may include query parameters or identifiers originally present in the link. These providers handle requests under their own privacy policies. Sharelf does not control their logging, retention, or use of that information.
When you open a link or share a link or generated card with another app or person, the destination receives the information you choose to send. Review the content before sharing, especially if it includes private notes or sensitive links.
On-device summaries
On supported devices, Sharelf uses Apple’s on-device language model to generate summaries of saved content. The current summary feature does not send its prompts or your notes to an external AI service. If the model is unavailable, the app can create a simpler local digest. This local processing is separate from iCloud synchronization and the network requests used to retrieve previews.
Advertising, analytics, and diagnostics
The current app does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, and we do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
The app can write technical errors and diagnostic messages to the device’s system logs. Some messages may include a saved URL or an error description. Apple may separately process or make crash and diagnostic information available under your device’s diagnostic-sharing settings and Apple’s policies. Information you send us for troubleshooting is used to investigate and resolve the issue.
Retention and deletion
Saved records remain in your collection until you delete them. Use the app’s delete controls to remove saved shares. If a link was saved more than once, deleting one share may leave the other records for that link. When iCloud sync is active, deletions can propagate to other devices, subject to synchronization delays.
Settings → Storage → Clear removes downloaded caches; it does not delete saved links, notes, or their metadata. Resources may download again when needed.
Deleting the app does not necessarily remove iCloud data, backups, or copies you shared elsewhere. Manage iCloud storage and device backups through Apple’s settings. Third-party recipients control their own copies and retention.
We retain support correspondence only as long as reasonably needed to address the request, maintain necessary support records, and meet legal obligations. We delete support emails and any attachments 12 months after the request is resolved, unless we must keep them longer to meet a legal obligation.
Your choices and rights
You can choose what to save and share, edit supported information, delete saved shares, clear caches, and manage iCloud access in your device settings. Restricting network or iCloud access may limit previews and synchronization.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information we hold, or to restrict or object to certain processing. Where processing depends on consent, you may withdraw it. Contact us using the details in section 11 to make a request or raise a concern. We may need reasonable verification of your identity. We cannot directly retrieve or erase information held only on your device or in your personal iCloud account. You may also have a right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Where applicable, we process information to provide the features you request, pursue legitimate interests such as responding to support and maintaining reliability, comply with legal obligations, or obtain consent where required. Accepting the Terms is not a blanket consent to unrelated processing.
Security and international processing
Sharelf relies on platform storage protections and Apple’s iCloud infrastructure. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Protect access to your device and Apple Account, and avoid saving or sharing links containing secrets you do not intend to disclose.
Apple, linked websites, content providers, and any service used to handle your support request may process information outside your country. Their locations and practices depend on the provider. Where we transfer personal information internationally, we will use safeguards required by applicable law.
Children
Sharelf is rated 4+ on the App Store because the app itself contains no objectionable content. It is a general-purpose app, not designed for or directed to children, and it is not offered in the App Store Kids category. Websites and other content that you save or open through Sharelf are not covered by that rating.
Because the app does not send your collection to us, we do not collect personal information from children through the app. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through support or other direct communications. If you believe a child has provided such information to us, contact us so we can address it. Children should use Sharelf with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian. Additional local age or parental-consent requirements may apply.
Policy updates and contact
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the app or our practices. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice of material changes where required. Where a change requires consent, we will request it before the relevant processing begins.
